Newcastle vs Manchester

Our prediction for this Premier League match:

All eyes will be on St. James’ Park when Newcastle United and Manchester City face each other in the Premier League derby. The Magpies aim to recover from a 3-1 loss to Fulham, but they will have a mountain to climb in Saturday’s matinee. All Lewis Miley, Callum Wilson, and Jamaal Lascelles are sidelined with injuries for the home team. The Citizens, on the other hand, saved one point from the Premier League derby against Arsenal, with John Stones scoring the equalizer in the stoppage time.

Pep Guardiola’s men aim to retain top position in the standings and given Newcastle’s poor defensive display at Craven Cottage, we are tempted to place our bets on the reigning champions. Rodri is unlikely to recover in time to face the Magpies, with Mateo Kovacic likely to step up. Kevin De Bruyne returns from injury, which is yet another reason why away win should be considered.

How the bookies view it: Toon Army to be toppled

Newcastle – who have won their opening two Premier League home games of the season –  are big outsiders at 19/5 (PHMACAO). While a share of the St James’ Park spoils has been priced up at 10/3 (PHMACAO).

Man City are firm 4/7 favourites on PHMACAO to get their title defence back on track by securing all three points on Saturday.

Head to head: City hold the upper hand

The duo crossed paths four times across the Premier League and the two domestic cups last season, with Man City claiming top honours on three occasions.

Newcastle emerged victorious from the other encounter, eliminating City from the EFL Cup last term courtesy of a 1-0 win.

Newcastle vs Manchester City Prediction

Manchester City will be looking to return to winning ways in the first game of Matchday No 6 on Saturday afternoon at St. James’ Park.

The defending champions played out a 2-2 draw at home to the main title rivals Arsenal last weekend.

It was the clash between David and Goliath in the second half of the affair following Leandro Trossard’s red card just before the half-time break for Arsenal.

Manchester City registered 33 shots but they eventually managed to get the super-late equalizer through John Stones who sent the deflection behind David Raya’s back in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Pep Guardiola’s men are still the Premier League leaders with four wins and a draw in the inaugural five rounds.

As for Newcastle, they have produced their weakest performance of the campaign, falling 1-3 away at Fulham last weekend.

Something is clearly wrong with Eddie Howe’s team this season. Despite a fine overall record, their performances have been far from optimal. And Newcastle do not currently look like a team capable of challenging for European positions.

Newcastle’s back line showed plenty of signs of vulnerability seven days ago at Craven Cottage.

Each of their last five fixtures across competitions produced goals at both ends. Such a poor defensive rhythm of theirs will certainly represent the music to the ears of Erling Haaland.

The incredible Norwegian forward got his 10th goal of the campaign last weekend against Arsenal.

He was on target in each of the previous five league outings. He is now up against a leaky Newcastle back line and we have to back him to score anytime on Saturday at the 1.72 odds.

Obviously, we will also back Manchester City to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end at the odds of 2.50.

Players to watch: Haaland hungry for more goals

After becoming the fastest player to hit double figures in Premier League history last weekend. Erling Haaland is just 8/11 (WJPESO) for an anytime strike on Saturday.

Lewis Hall was a half-time substitute for Newcastle last weekend so he could get the nod from the off on Saturday. The young Magpies left-back stands out to commit just one foul during this game at 10/11 on 777PUB.

Predicted line-ups

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe may decide to freshen things up following last week’s loss at Fulham. Though he won’t be able to call upon the likes of Callum Wilson. Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman.

Rodri has joined both Nathan Ake and Oscar Bobb in the Man City medical room. While Kevin de Bruyne is a doubt after missing last week’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

Newcastle: Pope; Livramento, Burn, Schar, Hall; Guimaraes, Joelinton, Longstaff, Barnes, Gordon; Isak

Man City: Ederson; Walker, Gvardiol, Dias, Akanji; Gundogan, Kovacic, Silva, Grealish, Foden; Haaland
